ABOUT FRAN TYSON-MARCHINO

I am committed to the well being of children and families with a special focus on team building and collaboration. I am committed to sharing principles of human relations and parenting through grace, kindness and compassion, to empower people into action.

I invite you to connect with and live from your heart.  Expressing your truth and experiencing balance and harmony in your relationships allows you to teach your children to live by exquisite values and principles.  By providing the structure and environments for our children to be fulfilled, we support them in activating their own truth.  Working together, we create cooperative communities demonstrating stewardship through responsibility

After graduating from Virginia Commonwealth University with a Bachelor of Science in Special Education, I taught in the field for 10 years before returning to The College of William and Mary in Virginia and becoming credentialed in School Psychology.  Throughout my career, I have been in the forefront of advocating and implementing provision of services to underserved populations.  Working in a public school system, as a psychologist, I assisted in the formation of an alternative education environment serving emotionally and behaviorally challenged youth.  Over the course of the next 7 years, I served as a clinical counselor and school-based behavioral health specialist.  I inspired children and families to practice new behaviors that allowed positive relationships and adaptations in their homes, schools and communities.  From this position, I continued my commitment to enhance provision of mental health services working with agencies and other governmental departments to improve services in the school system.

Over the next 7 years, I provided clinical counseling to youth in private, non-profit residential programs, therapeutic foster homes and group homes.  I provided staff and foster parents with supportive strategies to improve relationships and overall functioning of the children and youth entrusted to their care.  I designed therapeutic interventions and detailed plans, in collaboration with the families and agencies.  I guided the acquisition of essential skills that supported the potential of reunification with their natural homes and communities.  During this time, I worked to address the existing fragmented state of communication among agencies.  I created collaboration that unified communication, achieving better outcomes for the children in my care.  By establishing new standards, care was enhanced for all children in residential programs.

Throughout my career, I have worked with children and youth from pre-kindergarten through post-high school.  I have worked with children who have mild to moderate mental disabilities, learning disabilities, emotional and behavioral challenges, substance abuse, and autism spectrum disorders with their families and support agencies.

I am licensed as a Marriage and Family Therapist in Colorado and Hawaii. Additionally, I am credentialed as a teacher of Special Education K-12, school psychologist, international substance abuse counselor, registered as a Play Therapist, and am an Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapist. I have served in public education, state juvenile correctional, private and non-profit agencies, and now I am choosing to offer my range of services in private practice.

I am looking forward to working with you and your family.
